I felt extremely fortunate to be part of the Nation of Islam’s 5th Annual Education Conference held at Muhammad University of Islam August 4-6, 2011. I am so thankful to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Bro. Dr. Larry Muhammad, national director should be commended for his dedication to advancing the cause of independent education.
I sat on a panel discussion with Rahman Sultan Muhammad about “publishing our own curriculum materials.” I was humbled when a couple of teachers told me they use my book in their lessons. All praise is due to Allah! I was able to share with those in the room the encouragement I received from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan when I was blessed to present my book to him. He said “more of us need to become authors so that we will be recognized as scholars and intellectuals.”
I was very moved by the entire weekend. In attendance with much memorabilia from his mobile museum was Bro. Khalid el Hakim. I truly enjoyed his entire display. He had some wonderful photos from the NOI that he acquired from various newspapers who sold their archives. For more info, check out his website. Click here
The weekend culminated with a wonderful talk by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. The webcast replay of the closing session of The 2011 Education Challenge Educational Conference is now available. This session featured fundraising for the Muhammad University of Islam and the powerful keynote address by The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.
